Abstract:  The effects of organic silicate on the frication performance of 45 steel/HT150 pair are studied by an improved frication apparatus. The reagent of organic silicate is added to the pair, and then the frication experiment is carried out under variable load, constant velocity and air conditions. The results show that there is ivory-white film on the surface of 45 steel. Investigation by microscope indicates that many particles, such as the elements of organic silicate are embedded into the surface. The micro-penetration hardness and surface roughness are greatly increased and decreased respectively, which demonstrate the pronounced abrasion-resistant effects of organic silicate.

Key words: Frication  Abrasion  Surface modification  Surface regeneration
