Abstract: The study is carried out on the influence of magnetic treatment on the distribution of welding residual stress by orthogonal experimental design method. In the experiments three influence factors, magnetic field intensity, field direction, and the process time, are considered. The residual stress is measured by hole drilling method. In order to reduce the influence of experimental error, the result data are analyzed by statistic method, and a range analysis of orthogonal experiment is carried out. It shows that the magnetic field direction and process time are the key factors to influence the residual stress, and the optimum parameters of magnetic treatment can be obtained.

Key words: Magnetic treatment  Residual stress  Orthogonal experiment  Range analysis
