Abstract: The principle that reciprocating in line is transmitted using the magnetic field force is studied. A magnetic circuit constructed by high performance rare-earth permanence magnetic material is developed to transmit the reciprocating in line. For the magnetic circuit, a model of calculating the axial force transmitted by the magnetic field is established by the theory of equivalent magnetic charge, and an experimental rig for the magnetic force transmission is designed and made. The model is verified by the experiments. The model determines the relation between the axial magnetic force with the magnetic ring thickness, the radial clearance, the internal magnetic ring diameter, and the radial wideness ratio of the tow rings. Effects of the parameters on transmitting the magnetic force are studied by the sensitivity analysis. The analysis shows that decreasing the radial clearance of the two rings increases the magnetic force transmitted by the magnetic field.
