TOPOLOGY DESIGN OF EXHAUST-BRAKE BRACKET
FOR EIGENVALUE OPTIMIZATION

Abstract: An exhaust-brake bracket of an engine is taken as an example to illustrate dynamic topology optimization application in actual engineering. This bracket is broken because of resonance in using. On the basis of FEM and modal analysis of the bracket system, a reasonable optimum model is built, which considers manufacturing constraints and mode control. On the condition of keeping the structure weight, the bracket eigenvalue optimization is realized by topology optimization technique. Optimal bracket design is not only apart from the resonance region and lightens the original bracket, but also simplifies the manufacturing courses which reduce the manufacture cost and the risk of drape formation in punching.
