Abstract: Experiment and numerical simulation of the inner flow in DN100 gas turbine flowmeter are carried out. The pressure loss caused by the front oriented-body is especially analyzed, which is one of the key parts of turbine flowmeter. The pressure loss caused by two shapes of front oriented-body is compared. It is found that not only the velocity field and the local pressure loss are changed, but also the velocity grads and pressure value of gas flow in hinder parts are markedly influenced, when changing the shape of front oriented-body. The results present that the total pressure loss is magnified or reduced. Based on the analysis results of flow characteristics, the numerical simulation illustrates the correlation between shape and pressure loss on flow mechanism.

Key words: Turbine flowmeter  Front oriented-body  Pressure loss  Numerical simulation
