Abstract: In order to improve the driveability of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), the degree of jerk is selected as the evaluation parameter to evaluate the driveability of HEVs. With the analysis of experiment results, some methods are brought out to improve control quality and driveablity of HEVs. The reason of jerk is studied, experiment plan is worked out. Experiments of starting, state-changing, shifting and braking are implemented and well analyzed. The whole work is done on a hybrid electric car by using an automated mechanical transmission. Experimental results indicate that the degree of jerk can be reduced by optimizing the clutch control and by coordinately controlling the engine and motor’s speed and torque.
