Abstract:
In this paper,
we have developed a new strategy for concurrent design. Through
integrating human knowledge about design and manufacturing and
representing it in the form suitable for computer processing, a
higher level integration of CAD and CAM has been achieved. The
supporting concept is the design/manufacturing feature. A
prototype of this concurrent design system has been implemented
using C++ language. Test run shows that the system is capable of
doing conceptual design, detailed design, process planning, and
NC programming in a concurrent manner.
