Abstract:
A method for
calculating the static and dynamic performances and optimizing
the parameters of a gas-lubricated tilting flat-sector-pad
thrust bearing is introduced. Some optimized parameters such as
diameter ratio and the pivot location of the pad are
obtained. Using the program developed by the authors a rational
design of the bearing is realized. The feasibility of such
bearing is verified by a running test and the measured film
thickness under different angular speed is fairly in agreement
with the theoretical analyses.
