A WAY TO IMPROVE THE PRODUCTIVITY
OF KNOWLEDGE WORKERS

Abstract: In
upcoming knowledge society, knowledge workers or professionals
play the key element role in improving organizational
productivity. However, the characteristics of intellectuals or
knowledge workers are very different from those of manual
workers due to different working context. Traditional incentives
and methods for improving manual workers' productivity cannot
fit them. The topic is discussed from three aspectsindividual,
working environment and organization, which are viewed as the
most important factors to both personal success and
organization's productivity. Oriental philosophies combined with
organizational theory are proposed as a combination of dealing
with the productivity.
