Abstract: Surface design and structure design are two aspects of product
design. Product information would be perfectly described only if
both of them are organically united. Impact of product
appearance on its performance and decoration has been paid much
attention to in engineering and on market. Existing CAD system
doesn't suffice surface design which still rests on stage of
design with experience and handcraft. This case does not
accommodate to the new development of market. To grapple with
this problem, representation of appearance features, aided
design of figure and suface design based on mapping are
detailed. A design system of surface design and its application
instance are given out in the end.
