Abstract: When the flute of special rotary cutter with zero edge width is grinded, two adjacent cutting edges are generated simultaneously. A mathematical model for a five-axis NC machining of special rotary cutters with active control of the rake angle and the helical angle to ensure the correct cutting characteristics is proposed. The realization strategy of the modeling method and the correlative algorithm of computing cutter location are demonstrated.
