VISUALIZATION RESEARCHES ON

MOTIONS DATA OF MECHANISMS*

Abstract: The methods widely used to represent the motions data of mechanisms at present are not very direct. Two types of new methods, one scalar-based and one vector-based, are proposed to improve the visualization of the motions data, and their representing examples are also presented with planar four-bar mechanisms. The new methods could provide more intuitive graphical impressions on a global overview or local detail in a complete cycle and relationships between each variable.

Key words: Mechanism  Motion data  Kinematical analysis  Visualization
